How Does Super Cruise Work?

Super Cruise uses a combination of cameras, GPS information, sensors, and high-definition LiDAR map data as a guide. The system gathers real-time information and uses it to steer your GMC vehicle and maintain its position in the lane. Although Super Cruise is completely hands-free, drivers should remain alert.

Currently, there are more than 400,000 miles of compatible roads and highways spread across the U.S. and Canada.

How Do I Use Super Cruise?

Before you start driving make sure the Forward Collision System is set to ALERT AND BRAKE. If you use any Teen Driver features, make sure they are turned off. Then follow the steps below:

1. Press the Adaptive Cruise Control button on the steering wheel.
2. When the Super Cruise system detects that you are on compatible roads and all conditions are met the Super Cruise symbol will illuminate in white.
3. Press the Super Cruise button on the steering wheel. The symbol and the light bar on the steering wheel will illuminate in green. Once both are green, it is safe to remove your hands from the steering wheel.

To turn off Super Cruise, simply press the Super Cruise button or tap the brake pedal.

Which Vehicles Have Super Cruise?

GM launched Super Cruise in 2017, and the technology was later added to select vehicles in the 2022 GMC and Chevrolet lineups. As of this writing (July 2024), there are more than 15 GMC and Chevrolet vehicles available with Super Cruise, including but not limited to:
